Local Impact

Our Community

Located in rural America, our local towns and surrounding communities are very important to us. Our contributions help make small-town life more sustainable for our employees and our neighbors. We strive to show our support for local schools, sports, clubs, businesses, and organizations.

Why It Matters

We believe in supporting American Farmers & Rural Communities. That is why we are involved in our community by sponsoring and participating in local events, donating our time & money, providing career opportunities, and opening a new market for crop production.

A Few of Our Recent Contributions:

Phillipsburg little league baseball team sponsored by Amber Wave

Phillipsburg Youth Sports

All Year Round
Amber Wave is proud to sponsor youth sports throughout the summer and school year. Organized sports like football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, baseball, and others help keep kids ages 5-18 involved and active. Some of our employees are also volunteer coaches. One example of an Amber Wave sponsored team is our PeeWee Baseball Champion team, who rode along on our rodeo parade float.

NWKareS Hospice Services Fundraiser Auction Basket

Local businesses and individuals rallied together to donate items for the annual NWKareS Hospice Services Fun-d Dinner & Auction. Everyone’s generosity allows this organization to continue providing compassionate care to the patients and families they serve.

Logan High School USD 326 Amber Wave biofuel facility tour

Logan High School Freshman Class Biofuels Facility Tour

The USD 326 freshman class explored how ethanol is produced and made connections to their renewable resources unit. By examining samples from different stages of the distillation process, they were able to see how raw materials are transformed into a usable fuel. It was also discussed how the leftover byproducts are repurposed as cattle feed. We enjoy connecting classroom learning to real-world science and agriculture.

Holiday Food Drive

During the holiday season, we team up with First National Bank in Phillipsburg to help pack food boxes for those in need within our community through the Christmas is Sharing program. Our employees brought in enough to donate over 30 boxes of food. We are glad we could make a positive impact together and spread holiday joy.

Amber Wave participates in the Phillipsburg Chamber & Main Street Halloween Spooktacular on the Phillipsburg Courthouse Square

Phillipsburg Chamber & Main Street Halloween Spooktacular

Amber Wave is actively involved in the community as a member of the Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber hosts several events throughout the year that are fun for the whole family. Trick-or-Treating around the Phillips County Courthouse Square is one of our favorite Chamber events. We handed out tote bags to trick-or-treaters this year and heard proud little voices say, “My mom works here!” or “My dad works here!”

Wear Pink, Kill Breast Cancer annual PHS Volleyball Game

In partnership with Mapes and Miller CPA and First National Bank and Trust, Amber Wave donated $5 per kill (when an attack is unreturnable by the opposing team and results in a scored point) during the Lady Panthers home volleyball games against the Alma Cardinals. Thanks to t-shirt purchases, donations, and support for the “Kill Cancer” initiative, $1,545 was raised for the Mammography Department at Phillips County Health Systems.

W.A.C.K.Y. DAY

Wildlife, Agriculture, Conservation, Knowledge for Youth Day, better known as WACKY DAY, is an annual event organized by the Kansas Natural Resource Foundation (KNRF) for area 6th grade students at Kirwin Reservoir’s Camp Hansen. Several conservation practice presentations are held throughout the day. Thanks to Amber Wave and other sponsors, each student received a WACKY Day t-shirt, a backpack, a water bottle, and a free lunch.

The Play Space

A new charitable business opened in Phillipsburg. The Play Space is an indoor facility for children 12 and under to play, socialize with peers, and learn new skills. Amber Wave made a monetary donation in addition to giving our old office furniture a new home at The Play Space.

Phillips County Farmers Market

Phillips County Farmers’ Market sponsor

A local market for handmade or homegrown products is set up around the courthouse square in Phillipsburg. The market season runs from June to October. Amber Wave has been a sponsor for the live music performed during the market in years past.

Phillips County 4-H Fair

During the Phillips County Fair, Amber Wave supports local youth 4-H members by purchasing livestock at the premium auction as well as sponsoring the Market Wheat Show. Supporting organizations like 4-H that help young people develop skills for the future and become confident leaders is important to us.

North Family McCracken KS Amber Wave Wheat Harvest Appreciation 2023

Wheat Harvest Appreciation

We set out to meet local farmers in their fields in the heart of wheat harvest. We handed out cold drinks, koozies, and license plates while creating connections in the fields. Our Wheat Harvest Appreciation Tour was a chance to build trust and credibility on both sides. Vital wheat gluten customers can see where our product is being grown, while local producers can connect with the company that is buying their wheat and understand where it is going.

Community Service

During construction, while waiting for the plant to be fully operational, our employees spent time in the Phillipsburg community completing various service projects. Learn more about their projects:

Throughout rodeo week, we participate in Pink Night raising money for local cancer patients, the parade, and help sponsor the rodeo Saturday celebration on the courthouse square. Our employees also show up all weekend long cheering, volunteering, and representing Amber Wave throughout the community.
