Senator Jerry Moran visits Amber Wave™

PHILLIPSBURG, KS – Amber Wave, welcomed U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas on October 10, 2024, to the wheat processing facility.

The senator returned to the now fully operational plant while he was back in the area he used to call home. After stops at Smith Center, the Home on the Range Cabin, and Kensington, Moran made his way to Amber Wave. Moran’s hometown is just 40 min. south of Phillipsburg in Plainville, KS.

“I am who I am, because of where I grew up,” Moran said when talking about this visit and other recent visits back home.

After attending the ribbon cutting two years ago, Moran was able to see the now fully operational plant. Before touring the food ingredients facility, plant managers Kevin Morgan and Mike Sheid discussed important topics such as the 45Z tax credit and its importance to the Kansas, agriculture, and renewable fuels economies, sustainable aviation fuel market opportunity for Kansas, and other agricultural processing plants in Kansas.

“We are glad Senator Moran took the time to stop by today. His support for the biofuel industry and everything we are doing here at Amber Wave is greatly appreciated,” Morgan said.

During his tour, Moran interacted with employees, many of whom have always called Kansas home as well as a few who moved here to pursue this opportunity. Moran also commented on the size of the facility and the local economic impact.

“I am glad Senator Moran made it back out to visit us and see North America’s largest wheat protein facility in action. Getting an inside look gives people a better understanding of what it takes to produce gluten, biofuel, and important co-products,” Sheid said.

Amber Wave would like to thank Senator Moran for stopping by, checking up on us, and learning more about our facility.
